GTA 6 Characters: Jason and Lucia
For the first time in the series, a mainline Grand Theft Auto is built around a couple — and for the first time, one of the leads is a woman.

Lucia
Lucia is the first female protagonist in a mainline Grand Theft Auto. That is a genuine first across more than twenty-five years and six numbered entries, and Rockstar Games opened its first trailer on her rather than treating it as a footnote.
What the trailers establish: she has done time, she is out, and the opening beats of the story are about what a person does immediately after that. The framing is not glamorous. It is closer to the pressure of a bad situation than to the ascendant crime-boss fantasy GTA usually opens with.
Jason
Jason is the other half of the pair. He is written as the steadier of the two — a man with a military background and a habit of drifting into work that finds him rather than work he chose.
The trailers place him in Leonida’s margins: the trailer parks, the boat yards, the jobs that come through people he already owes. Where Lucia drives the story forward, Jason mostly reacts to it, which is a deliberate contrast rather than a thinner character.
Why two protagonists and not three
GTA 5 ran three leads and let you switch between them almost anywhere. It worked, but it meant Michael, Franklin and Trevor spent much of the game apart, and the switch was as much a traversal tool as a storytelling one.
GTA 6 appears to be doing something different. Jason and Lucia are repeatedly shown in the same frame, in the same scene, in the same car. A two-hander built on a relationship needs the pair co-present far more often than a three-way ensemble does.
The obvious comparison is Bonnie and Clyde, and Rockstar has not discouraged it. Practically, it suggests the character switch — if there is one — is a moment-to-moment tactical choice inside a shared scene rather than a way to teleport across the map.
What is still unknown
Rockstar has not confirmed how switching works, whether either character can be played independently for long stretches, or how the relationship changes across the story. Surnames, backstory specifics and the supporting cast are largely unannounced.
Everything above is drawn from the official trailers and Rockstar’s own copy. Where sites list detailed biographies, mission counts or relationship arcs for these two, that material is invented — the game has not shipped and no press build exists.
Does any of this affect cheats?
Probably, in one small way. GTA 5 tied its special-ability recharge cheat to whichever character you were controlling, because each of the three had a different ability. If Jason and Lucia have distinct abilities, expect the same pattern: a single recharge cheat that acts on the active character.
Beyond that, cheat categories have never depended on the cast. Weapons, health, vehicles, wanted level and weather are constants across the series, and our GTA 6 cheat codes list is organised around exactly those.
