The GTA 6 Map: Leonida and Vice City
Leonida is a whole state, not a single city — beaches, swamp, keys and countryside wrapped around the biggest Vice City ever built.

Leonida, the state
GTA 6 takes place in Leonida, Rockstar’s fictional take on Florida. That is a step up in scope from GTA 5: Los Santos was a city with a rural county attached, while Leonida is presented as a state containing several distinct settlements.
It is the first mainline Grand Theft Auto to return to a previously used setting, and the first to hand that setting a full surrounding region.
Vice City, rebuilt
Vice City anchors the map. The last version, from 2002, ran on a fraction of the geometry budget a modern console allows — this one has crowded beachfronts, high-rise interiors, working nightlife districts and a densely populated waterfront.
The trailers lean hard on the beach strip: bodies on the sand, traffic on the causeways, neon along the storefronts after dark. The art direction is present-day Florida rather than the 1980s pastel of the original.
Regions and biomes spotted so far
That water coverage is the biggest structural change from Los Santos. Boats and aircraft are not side content in a map shaped like this — which is exactly why the vehicle spawn cheats are the ones worth watching at launch.
- Vice City — the dense urban core, beaches and nightlife district
- Swamp and wetlands — airboats, stilt houses, alligators
- The Keys — island chains and shallow turquoise water
- Rural inland — trailer parks, farmland, strip malls, back roads
- Coastline — marinas, offshore boats and open water
How big is it?
Rockstar has not published a figure, and no credible measurement exists before release. Anyone quoting a precise square-mileage right now is extrapolating from trailer footage.
What is safe to say: it is the largest map the series has shipped, and unlike GTA 5 a meaningful share of it is water and wetland rather than driveable ground.
